NCAA Considering Expansion To 96 Teams

You can file this one under "Dumbest Ideas Ever Considered By Human Beings." According to reports, the NCAA is considering expanding its men's basketball tournament field to 96 teams - 34 more than the current 65-team field.

ESPN's Andy Katz reported that NCAA officials were in "the process of evaluating" the tournament field and "throwing the idea of expansion out there" to network television executives.

What network television executives have to do with how many teams belong in the NCAA Tournament, I'll never know. But with college presidents today seemingly operating under the credo: "Shamelessly grab as many dead presidents as you possibly can before you become one," it's no surprise.

Remember, this is the same organization that supports the BCS. So apparently it's okay for 96 teams to compete for a championship in basketball but there's only time for 2 in football. I think Hypocrisy 101 is a prerequisite for becoming a college president.

                                        Mess with the euphoria of this moment? The NCAA might.
